The sessions for most of the days are organised into presentations in the morning, and practical sessions in the afternoon.

For the practical sessions, the attendees will be organised into groups of 2 or 3 developers to work together with a virtual machine. We’ll provide the details of how to access this machine at the workshop.

Monday

Morning: Introduction & initial presentations

Afternoon: Spatial layers

  • 1430:  Practical: Load Spatial Layers (attendees should bring their own shapefiles)

Tuesday

Morning: Sampling

  • 0900:   Recap: Demo of layer loading (Dave)
  • 1000: Practical: Load data & Run sampling
  • 1100 : Coffee
  • 1130:  Practical: Load data & Run sampling (continued)
  • 1330:  Lunch

Afternoon: Using your own Taxonomy with the Atlas

  • 1430:  Practical: Deploy regions
  • 1530: Practical: biocache & spatial portal tool
  • 1700:  Finish

Wednesday

Morning: Infrastructure

  • 0900 : Recap: Regions & Spatial portal
  • 1000:  Ansible / Docker (Dave / Manash)

  • 1130:  Updating existing infrastructure
  • 1230:  ALA4R
  • 1330:  Lunch

Afternoon: Using your own Taxonomy with the Atlas

  • 1430: Name indexes & DwCA structure for taxonomy (Dave)
  • 1500:  Practical: Using your own taxonomy

Thursday

Morning: Questions about your own portals (in groups)

  • 0900: Discussion of issues
  • 1100: Coffee

Afternoon:Governance

  • 1430: Revisit 2018 action points and establish future actions (Marie).
  • 1500 : Short presentation of Ubuntu and Apache community governance (Markus)
  • 1510 : Discussion about strategy  – producing a document (Marie)

Official Dinner :
